Vault Privacy

The vault stores URL bookmarks for your signed-in workspace. Titles, URLs, folders, tags, and pin state are account-backed.

DexURL does not claim end-to-end encryption for live Vault contents. Optional password-encrypted .dexvault backups preserve that organization metadata and are created in your browser. Restore them with Import bookmarks, the .dexvault file, and the same password. DexURL cannot recover that password.

What works today

• Save destination URLs with a title, tags, folder, and pin state.
• Items sync as workspace URL bookmarks, not a local-only encrypted vault.
• Import Netscape Bookmark HTML files, review folders, then export HTML or an optional encrypted DexURL backup that preserves folders, tags, and pin state. CSV import and export are Pro.
• Browser-compatible HTML exports are plaintext and may reveal bookmarks to anyone who obtains the file.

Prefer “private vault” or “locked vault” wording. Do not describe the vault as unrecoverable or military-grade encrypted until that design ships and is verified.
