Built for control
Safety warnings stay on
Paid plans cannot hide required safety notices on suspicious destinations.
Short URL and QR stay linked
Edit the destination or rules once. Printed codes and shared slugs follow the same route.
Vault is account-backed
Saved bookmarks live with your account. That is not end-to-end encryption.
QR codes: Print the code once. Keep the destination editable.
Many free QR codes hold a fixed URL, so a reprint is needed when the page changes. A DexURL QR points at your short link: change the destination and the printed code keeps working while the link is active.
Menus, posters and table tents
Print one QR, then change the menu, booking or promo URL later. No ads between the scan and the destination.
Events and packaging
One code on badges, flyers or boxes. Point it at a dynamic short link or a Pro multi-link board, then expire it when the event ends.
Static codes, free
Unlimited static QR codes with no account, no watermark and no expiry. Download PNG, SVG or PDF.
- Free: Editable QR codes with destination edits, up to 25 active links, PNG, SVG and PDF downloads.
- Pro: Unlimited editable codes, multi-link boards, and logo styling.
Need a static code? The free QR generator makes unlimited static codes with no account, no watermark and no expiry, entirely in your browser. Pick a type: Wi-Fi QR code, Contact card QR code, Email QR code, SMS QR code, Phone QR code, Text QR code, Event QR code, Location QR code.
Not sure which you need? When a dynamic QR is the better choice.
Short links: Short links that go straight to your page.
No ad page and no countdown before your destination. Edit where a link goes, see who clicks, and set it to expire.
No ads before your destination
No interstitial or third-party ads on redirects. Required safety warnings stay on for every plan.
Edit, expire, protect
Change the destination anytime and set expiry and click limits on Free. Pro adds longer windows, one-time access and password gates.
Campaigns and private handoffs
Run a flash sale or beta that expires at midnight, or share a proposal behind a passphrase.
- Free: 25 active links, no monthly click cap (fair use applies), expiry up to 24 hours.
- Pro: Passwords, country and device routing, your own domain.
Bio pages: One public @handle for everything you share.
Publish a profile, links and a shareable QR on a public DexURL page. Start from a fictional starter, then replace the copy with yours.
Bio page and QR in one login
Skip a separate link page plus a separate shortener. Publish an @handle page and a printable QR you can still edit.
Themes and social icons
A QR for the page is built in, and the handle never changes when you apply a starter.
Draft stays private until you publish
The 18+ gate is visitor confirmation, not identity verification.
- Free: 1 Bio page at dexurl.com/@you.
- Pro: Remove branding, use your own domain, change links by time or place.
Vault + extension: Your bookmarks, finally organized.
Import folders and links from your browser, save new pages from the Chrome extension, and search everything in one private Vault. Export whenever you want. No lock-in.
Import with folders intact
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Brave and other HTML exports keep their folders. You review before anything is saved.
Save as you browse
The Chrome extension saves the page, shortens it and shows its QR. It reads your bookmarks only when you allow it.
Organize, search and export
Folders, tags, pins and search, then a browser-compatible export. Vault is account-backed, not end-to-end encrypted.
- Free: 25 saved links, folders and search.
- Pro: Unlimited items, regular automatic link checks, and CSV import and export.
Print once. Edit on Free. No ads.

Safety built into the product
DexURL validates destinations, keeps required warnings visible, and accepts abuse reports. On Free and Pro.
Suspicious link warnings
Destination URLs are validated, and operators can mark links with required warnings or disable them. Paid plans cannot turn those warnings off.
Data-minimized analytics
DexURL records click totals, plus Pro aggregate dashboards (referrers, devices, countries), without unnecessary visitor profiling.
Reports and moderation
Anyone can report a suspicious DexURL link. Reports go to the operations queue so unsafe links can be reviewed and disabled.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about what DexURL includes today and how safety controls work.
What is DexURL?
DexURL is a privacy-friendly link utility for clean short URLs, dynamic QR codes, expiry and protection rules, public link pages, vault URL bookmarks, smart routing, analytics, and locked reveal messages. Print a QR once, change the destination anytime, and skip ads on the redirect path.
Is DexURL only a link shortener?
No. Short links are the core, but the same route can carry a dynamic QR, Pro visitor routing, time-based expiry, password and one-time links, custom domains, link pages, and vault URL bookmarks — so you are not juggling single-purpose tools.
Why do my links use dexurl.net?
DexURL short links live on their own domain, dexurl.net, so they stay short, fast, and trusted, and stay separate from the DexURL website and app at dexurl.com. Your bio page stays at dexurl.com/@yourname.
Do short links or QR codes show ads?
No. DexURL does not insert interstitial or third-party ads into short-link redirects, QR scan flows, or routing destinations — including on the Free plan. Some pages may still show a small DexURL brand mark; Pro can remove Powered by DexURL on public link pages. Required safety warnings for suspicious links stay on for everyone.
Can I create temporary or protected links?
Yes. Free can set time-based expiry (up to 24 hours) and click limits. Pro adds longer expiry windows, one-time access, and password gates. All of these are enforced on the redirect path.
Can I use QR codes?
Yes. DexURL generates customizable QR codes mapped to editable short links, with color styling and one-click high-res PNG, SVG, or PDF export on Free. Pro can add logo styling and create multi-link QR boards. QR is the supported output for URLs — DexURL does not claim barcode export today.
Can DexURL route visitors to different destinations?
Yes on Pro. Smart routing can use device, country, language, availability windows, and related rules with a required fallback destination. Safety warnings and disabled-link states still take priority over routing customization.
Is the vault encrypted?
The live Vault stores URL bookmarks for your signed-in workspace. Titles, URLs, folders, tags, and pin state are account-backed server data — DexURL does not claim end-to-end encryption for Vault contents. You can export a plaintext browser-compatible HTML file, or create an optional password-encrypted DexURL backup (.dexvault) in your browser that preserves folders, tags, and pins. To restore that backup, use Import bookmarks, choose the .dexvault file, and enter the same password. DexURL unlocks the file in your browser and cannot recover a lost password. Chrome, Safari, and Firefox cannot open .dexvault files.
Can I import bookmarks from Chrome or other browsers?
Yes. Export an HTML bookmark file from Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, Arc, or another compatible desktop browser, then drop that file into Vault (or choose it with the file picker). A free clean-up report shows what it found and can merge duplicates, strip tracking parameters, tidy folders, and auto-tag by host before you confirm — each is a toggle, on by default. Free includes 25 vault bookmarks; Pro is unlimited. HTML import and export stay on Free within that cap. CSV import and export are Pro. A website cannot read the bookmarks stored in your browser, but on desktop Chrome and other Chromium browsers the DexURL browser extension can send them to the same review step when you allow it. Most mobile browsers cannot export bookmarks; save the desktop file to Files or cloud storage and choose it on your phone.
Is there a DexURL browser extension?
Yes. The DexURL extension is on the Chrome Web Store and works in Chrome and other Chromium browsers on desktop, including Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi. From the toolbar or a right-click it saves the page, a link, or a selected URL to your Vault with folders, copies a link without tracking parameters, makes a DexURL short link, and shows a QR code. It can also send your browser bookmarks to the Vault import review step. Connect it once from dexurl.com/extension/connect while signed in.
Is the browser extension free, and does it have limits?
Every extension feature is included on Free and Pro. It uses your normal plan limits: saves count toward the 25-bookmark Vault on Free (unlimited on Pro), and short links it makes count toward your short-link limit. There is no separate extension plan and nothing is hidden behind an upgrade.
What does the browser extension send to DexURL?
Only what an action you take needs: the address and title of a page you save, the address you shorten, and the page address when you open the popup while connected, so it can show whether the page is already in your Vault. It reads your browser bookmarks once, and only if you choose to clean them up and allow access, and it never changes them. It does not read your browsing history, other tabs, or page content, and it has no analytics or advertising code. QR codes are made on your device, and Private Vault items never appear in the extension. You can disconnect a browser from the popup or from Settings → Security.
Does the extension work in Firefox or Safari?
Not today. The extension is published for Chrome and other Chromium browsers on desktop. In Firefox or Safari you can still import your bookmarks by exporting an HTML file and dropping it into Vault.
Can I do more with a saved Vault bookmark than just store it?
Yes. Each bookmark's menu can create a short link from it, show a static QR code of the URL (with a link to make it a trackable, editable dynamic QR instead), or add it to one of your Bio pages. Adding to an already-published Bio page creates a draft so nothing changes for visitors until you publish it; an unpublished page gets the link right away. These actions are included on Free and Pro.
Does DexURL check whether my saved bookmarks still work?
Yes. "Check links" on the Vault page tests each saved bookmark and flags what it finds: Moved (now redirects elsewhere, with a one-click fix), Dead link (404 or 410, with a link to an archived copy), Unreachable (timed out or refused the connection), or Domain for sale (a parking page). Free can check each saved link once; Pro adds on-demand re-checks (throttled to once per hour per link) and regular automatic re-checks of your saved links. DexURL does not store the page content it checks.
Can I use a custom domain?
Yes on Pro. Add a hostname such as go.yourbrand.com on the Domains page, then add the DNS records DexURL shows there. After the domain is verified, DexURL turns on HTTPS. Share branded links only after HTTPS is ready.
How does billing work?
Pro is $9/month USD, or $90/year USD (2 months free, $7.50/month). You pick the interval at checkout and it renews at that interval until you cancel. Eligible first-time users get a 7-day trial on either interval. You are not charged if you cancel before the trial ends. After trial, the subscription renews automatically unless canceled. Refunds after a charge are reviewed case by case. Cancel or update payment from Settings → Billing → Manage billing (Stripe Customer Portal). Deleting an account and signing up again does not start another first-time trial.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from Settings → Delete account. Deletion permanently removes your workspace, links, Bio pages, Vault bookmarks, custom domains, and sign-in identity. Public links stop working as soon as deletion starts. Active or trialing Pro subscriptions are canceled without an automatic refund. You can register again later, but that account stays on Free unless you start paid Pro Checkout without another first-time trial. The DexURL owner account cannot be deleted.
What does DexURL log, and do you sell data?
DexURL stores account identity, the links and Vault bookmarks you create, limited redirect metrics, anonymous Bio page view and click counts, and abuse or support records needed to run the product. It does not sell personal data to advertising brokers and does not insert ads before your destination. Live Vault is account-backed, not end-to-end encrypted. See /security for plain-language details and the Privacy Policy for the full statement.
How is data safety handled?
Destination URLs are validated, and links can be marked with required safety warnings or disabled by operators. Visitors can submit abuse reports. DexURL does not let paid plans turn off required safety warnings.
Is there a free QR code generator without sign-up?
Yes. The free QR code generator at dexurl.com/qr-code-generator runs entirely in your browser, with no account, no watermark, no scan limit, and no expiry on the download. It covers nine content types — link, Wi-Fi, contact card, email, text message, phone number, plain text, calendar event, and location — and can add a logo, colors, and module shapes before you export. Static codes from this generator are unlimited and separate from your DexURL account: the Free plan's cap of 25 active short links applies only to dynamic, editable short links and their QR codes.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static QR code has the destination baked directly into its pattern, so it never expires or needs an account, but changing where it points means printing a new code. A dynamic QR code, like the one DexURL creates for a short link, points at an editable route instead, so you can change the destination after printing without reprinting. See the static vs dynamic QR codes guide at dexurl.com/guides/static-vs-dynamic-qr-codes for more.
